Philadelphia car meetup results in 2 arrests and damage to 2 police cars

Over the weekend, chaos erupted in Philadelphia’s Frankford neighborhood as police responded to a car meetup that spiraled out of control. Two men were arrested, and two police cars were damaged in the incident that took place on Saturday night.

According to authorities, the Philadelphia police were called to the scene at around 9:45 p.m. to disperse a large crowd that was driving recklessly near the intersection of Torresdale and Adams avenues. The situation escalated when a patrol car was struck by a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Chase Possert from Hamilton, New Jersey, who was attempting to flee the area. Possert was subsequently arrested on multiple charges, including criminal mischief, institutional vandalism, resisting arrest, fleeing police, reckless driving, and careless driving.

In addition to Possert, four other 17-year-old occupants in his car were cited and released by the police. The reckless behavior continued as 33-year-old David Wyche from West Norriton, Pennsylvania, was also arrested for allegedly drag racing in a 2023 grey Dodge Charger at the same location. Wyche faced charges of recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct-hazard, and reckless driving.

„This is something that the city is just not going to tolerate,“ Inspector D F Pace stated on Saturday night. „This has the potential to be incredibly dangerous and catastrophic both for the participants and innocent bystanders. We are going to do everything we possibly can to eradicate this type of activity.“

Despite the chaos and damage caused to some of the vehicles, fortunately, no officers or individuals involved in the incident sustained any injuries. However, another police patrol car was also damaged when a bottle of tequila was thrown at it, cracking the windshield.

The Northeast Detectives have taken over the investigation into the incident to determine the full extent of the damages and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.

In conclusion, the events that unfolded in Philadelphia’s Frankford neighborhood serve as a stark reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and illegal activities on public roads. It is crucial for law enforcement to crack down on such behavior to ensure the safety of both participants and innocent bystanders. The arrests made in this case send a strong message that such actions will not be tolerated, and those who engage in them will face consequences.
