The San Marino Motor Classic is a highly anticipated event that showcases over 500 classic and collectible cars meticulously restored to their highest level. This fundraiser, taking place on August 24-25, includes a gala, car showcase, and art show, making it a must-attend event for car enthusiasts and art lovers alike.
Event chairman Aaron Weiss describes the San Marino Motor Classic as the only remaining concours-level event in Southern California. For those unfamiliar with the term, concours refers to the highest level of restoration, where cars are judged on every detail from interiors to paint color. This premier event will welcome more than 450 collectible cars from all over the country, each vying for prestigious awards.
Last year’s Best in Show winner was a stunning 1947 Talbot Lago 126 Record Convertible Coupe, owned by Bonnie and Ray Kinney of Texas. Other award winners included a 1920 Bugatti Type 13, a 1910 Pope Hartford Model T, a 1919 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Tourer, and a 1956 Porsche 356 Speedster. The diversity of cars on display is truly remarkable, ranging from hot rods to European motor scooters, and classics from renowned brands like Packard, Lamborghini, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Ferrari, Jaguar, and Corvette.
Weiss emphasizes that the San Marino Motor Classic has evolved into a nationally recognized event, with judges from prestigious concours events like Pebble Beach and Amelia Island sporting the event’s logo-encrusted baseball caps. Beyond the display of fabulous cars, the event is also known for its charitable contributions, having raised over $3.7 million since 2011 for organizations such as the Pasadena Humane Society, Cancer Support Community of San Gabriel Valley, and Shriners Hospital.
The weekend kicks off with the Symphony of Cars Gala and Fine Arts Society Art Exposition and Sale on Saturday, August 24, at Lacy Park. The gala features a unique showcase of 15 motor cars presented on stage, accompanied by musical compositions from the year of each car’s manufacture. Attendees can enjoy complimentary valet parking, a hosted bar, and a gourmet dinner with paired wines, all while supporting a good cause.
On Sunday, August 25, the main event takes place at Lacy Park, where visitors can explore over 450 classic cars and browse through a midway with more than 30 vendor booths. Gates open at 9 a.m., and the day concludes with the presentation of the Best in Show Award at 3 p.m. Tickets are available online for $45 or at the door for $50, with free admission for children under 12. A VIP lunch option is also available for $175.
Parking is conveniently located on the residential streets around Lacy Park, with trolleys available to transport guests to the park entrance. For more information or to purchase tickets, interested individuals can contact Aaron Weiss at 818-606-0638.
