In a collaborative effort to combat stunting, PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk (SBI) partnered with the Tuban District Health Office to conduct a training on the utilization of local food. The training, held from October 1st to 3rd, 2024, at the Rumah Kreatif Tuwuh Mendhiri, was attended by 120 health cadres from the Integrated Primary Health Service (ILP) in six villages across three sub-districts near the SBI Tuban factory.
Dra. Esti Surahmi, Apt., the Head of the Tuban District Health Office and P2KB, expressed gratitude to the health cadres for their dedication to promoting and building a healthy community through the Posyandu activities. She emphasized the importance of implementing healthy lifestyles and diets as key factors in preventing stunting, highlighting the significance of the training in enhancing the cadres‘ knowledge and skills.
In Tuban District, the prevalence of stunting was reported at 24.9% in 2022, showing a decrease to 17.8% in 2023. The average stunting rate in East Java Province was 17.7% in 2023. M. Yunani Rizzal, the General Affairs & Community Relations Manager at SBI Tuban, expressed optimism that the training on preparing nutritious meals from local ingredients would contribute to the success of reducing stunting rates in Tuban District.
„We fully support the stunting prevention program to achieve the target of single-digit reduction in stunting prevalence,“ stated M. Yunani Rizzal.
The training, a collaboration between SBI Tuban, a subsidiary of SIG, and the Tuban District Health Office through the Jenu, Tambakboyo, and Gaji Community Health Centers, involved 120 health cadres from the villages of Karangasem, Glondonggede, Kedungrejo, Mliwang, Merkawang, and Sawir.
The training covered various topics, including maternal nutrition, fetal malnutrition, infant nutrition issues, nutrition management in the first 1000 days of life, food safety, healthy recipes to encourage children to eat well, and the preparation of nutritious meals using local ingredients such as mango pudding, shrimp and chicken dim sum. This initiative aims to empower the health cadres with the knowledge and skills needed to promote healthy eating habits and combat stunting effectively.
The collaborative efforts between SBI Tuban and the Tuban District Health Office underscore the importance of community engagement and education in addressing public health challenges like stunting. By equipping health cadres with the necessary tools and knowledge, this training sets a solid foundation for a healthier and stunting-free future for the residents of Tuban District.
