In an effort to support the transformation of education in the era of Society 5.0, PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) has initiated a series of programs in 36 schools across 9 beneficiary villages in the Manyar District. These programs aim to enhance the technological skills of educators and students, ultimately fostering innovation and technological development.
Emily Muteb, Manager of Environmental & Sustainable Development at PTFI, expressed the company’s hopes for the program to elevate the technological proficiency of educators and students in Society 5.0. She believes that this initiative will lead to the birth of new innovations and technological advancements in the education sector.
The program includes various activities such as teacher education seminars, student outbound programs, technology utilization training, and a media learning competition. The Media Learning Competition, in particular, serves as an implementation of the workshops conducted earlier to sharpen the creativity of teachers in utilizing media for learning purposes.
Siti Munaroh, the Chairperson of the Education Program, conveyed her appreciation to PTFI and expressed her desire for continued collaboration. She emphasized the significance of this partnership in showcasing PTFI’s strong commitment to education. Siti hopes that this collaboration will lead to the enhancement of school quality from elementary to high school levels, providing teachers with the necessary tools to incorporate new learning methods and activities.
As part of its educational support, PTFI, through the Joint Transformation Center (PTB), has provided assistance in the form of smart TVs and printers to 36 educational institutions in 9 villages. The PTB, a collaboration between PTFI, the Takmir Masjid Manyar Foundation (Yatamam), and PT Raya Manyar Persada (RMP), primarily manages recycling waste from the smelter construction project.
The recycled waste is sold, and the proceeds are used to fund various activities in education, religion, health, and the environment for the residents of Gresik, particularly those living in the vicinity of the smelter site. All educational activities are funded through the proceeds from PTB’s waste processing.
In conclusion, PTFI’s commitment to supporting education in the Society 5.0 era through various programs and initiatives demonstrates its dedication to the development and advancement of the education sector. By providing resources, training, and opportunities for educators and students, PTFI is contributing to the growth of innovative and technologically adept individuals who will shape the future of education in Indonesia.
