Tunku Azizah, the Raja Permaisuri Agong of Malaysia, graced the Olave Baden-Powell Society (OB-PS) Malaysia 2023 Conference with her presence at the Gala Dinner held at Istana Negara on Sunday night. The event was attended by various distinguished guests, including members of the royal families, government officials, and participants from around the world.
As the Royal Benefactor and Chairperson of the organizing committee for the conference, Tunku Azizah arrived at the venue accompanied by Sultanah Terengganu, Sultanah Nur Zahirah, and Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin. Also in attendance were Permaisuri Johor, Raja Zarith Sofiah Almarhum Sultan Idris Shah; Raja Permaisuri Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim; Tunku Ampuan Besar Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Aishah Rohani Almarhum Tengku Besar Mahmud; and Sultanah Kelantan, Nur Diana Petra Abdullah. The event was further graced by the presence of the wife of the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
The Gala Dinner was attended by 400 guests, including 370 participants of the OB-PS conference from all over the world. The conference, which took place from October 12 to 16, aimed to support the mission of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) by investing in the future leadership of young women who will lead their families, communities, countries, and the world.
Before the commencement of the dinner, Tunku Azizah presented awards to deserving participants of the conference. The ‚Leaders Award‘ was bestowed upon Dallas Landon from Australia, Elaine Paterson from Canada, Deborah Robinson from the United States, and Margaret Treloar from Canada. Additionally, Tunku Azizah awarded the ‚Innovation Award‘ to Tricia Tilford from the United States and the ‚Vision Award‘ to Vibeke Riemer and Lars Kolind from Denmark.
During the evening, Tunku Azizah delighted the guests with her musical talents by performing three songs – Gurindam Jiwa, Menghitung Hari, and My Way. The event concluded on a high note, with the OB-PS reaffirming its commitment to supporting WAGGGS and ensuring a stable financial flow to fund its work, projects, programs, and services.
