Rare Appearance of Authentic Evel Knievel Vehicles at Volo Museum – Shaw Local

The Volo Museum in Volo, Illinois, is set to host a special event featuring the iconic vehicles of the legendary Evel Knievel for one weekend only, from August 23rd to 25th. This unique opportunity will allow visitors to get up close and personal with many of Evel Knievel’s and Kaptain Robbie Knievel’s authentic stunt vehicles, suits, merchandise, and more, all from the Knievel family’s private collection.

John Bagley, owner of Motor Mania, has been commissioned to operate and oversee the tour. Bagley’s history with the daredevil family dates back years ago when he first met Evel and Robbie Knievel. Two years ago, Bagley initiated a conversation with Kelly Knievel, Evel’s son and the current owner of the Evel Knievel brand. Together, they collaborated on the idea of putting together a tour to showcase some of Knievel’s vehicles that have never been seen before.

One of the featured pieces at the event will be the X2 Rocket that Evel Knievel used in his famous televised Snake River Canyon Jump in 1974. Additionally, visitors will have the chance to see the Formula 1 Dragster that Knievel created with renowned car builder Carl Casper, as well as the promotional Jet Bike that featured real working rockets on each side.

Tickets to the event will be free with the purchase of regular admission to Volo Museum or their Platinum and Gold Passes. The tour will continue through select cities until the grand opening of the new Evel Knievel Museum in downtown Las Vegas next summer.

Evel Knievel was an iconic American stunt performer and daredevil, known for his fearless motorcycle jumps and death-defying stunts. Throughout his career, Knievel attempted over 75 ramp-to-ramp motorcycle jumps, including his famous leap over the fountains at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and his daring attempt to jump the Snake River Canyon in a rocket-powered cycle. Knievel’s signature red, white, and blue jumpsuits made him a cultural icon in the 1970s, symbolizing courage, determination, and the spirit of adventure.
