Safety and prevention are key aspects of any large-scale event, and the Diagonal DiR Guàrdia Urbana fun run in Barcelona is no exception. With the event set to take place on Sunday, 26 May, participants and spectators alike should be aware of the safety measures in place to ensure a successful and enjoyable experience.
The event, which includes both a 5 km and a 10 km run along Av. Diagonal, will see participants running from the mountains to the sea. The runs are open to everyone and are timed and recognized according to the regulations of the Catalan Athletics Federation. To participate, runners must collect their runner’s bag, t-shirt, and number bib from the Runners‘ Fair at Diagonal DiR (Ganduxer, 25) on Friday, 24 and Saturday, 25 May.
In addition to the main runs, the event also offers a series of children’s activities organized by the City Police at the Runners‘ Fair. These activities include face-painting, a City Police dog patrol, a Mounted Unit demonstration, Zumba for kids, and a mobility workshop. The Cursa Kids event, where children can run a route around the Jardins de Piscines i Esports, will also take place on Saturday morning.
Mobility disruptions are to be expected during the event, particularly in the districts of Les Corts, L’Eixample, and Sant Martí. Traffic will not be allowed to circulate on the streets making up the route of the run, which will be opened once runners have passed through. Public transport services will also be affected, with several bus routes being diverted or limited while the event is in progress. Participants are advised to use the L3 metro service to reach the event at the Palau Reial stop.
To stay informed about any disruptions or changes to the event, participants and spectators are encouraged to check the event website for more information. By following safety guidelines and being aware of potential disruptions, everyone can enjoy a fun and successful day at the Diagonal DiR Guàrdia Urbana fun run in Barcelona.
