A crash on Interstate 635 in Dallas turned into chaos and violence on Tuesday morning when a frustrated driver allegedly stabbed a bystander and went on a rampage. The incident, which occurred during morning rush hour, left three victims hospitalized and caused traffic delays for several hours.
According to Fox 4 News, the incident began with a multivehicle crash on I-635 westbound in Northeast Dallas at Forest Lane. The driver, identified as Angel Zamora Moreno, 26, reportedly became visibly angry and violent after the crash. When a bystander attempted to intervene, Moreno allegedly stabbed the bystander before stealing a Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) truck.
The TxDOT employee who was driving the truck stopped to help but was hit by the stolen vehicle as Moreno took control of another vehicle and hit another driver. The chaotic scene unfolded as witnesses looked on in shock and fear.
Malori Mitchell, a witness to the incident, described her panicked response to CBS News, saying, „I was shaking, my voice was shaking when I called 911. I was watching someone try to kill another person. It was a terrifying Tuesday morning.“
After Moreno got out of the second stolen vehicle, several bystanders were able to hold him down until police arrived. Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the scene and transported three victims to the hospital. The person who was stabbed was reported to be in critical condition, while the other two were stable. Moreno was also taken to a local hospital as a precaution.
Moreno has since been arrested and charged with seven counts of aggravated assault, two counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and one count of criminal mischief. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information about the incident to contact Dallas police Detective Marc Tucker.
