Rubata un’Alfa Romeo Giulietta dal parcheggio del Megalò

As the autumn season arrives, shopping centers are once again filling up, especially on weekends. However, along with the increase in shoppers, it seems that car thieves are also back in action.

The most recent incident reported dates back to last Sunday when an Alfa Romeo Giulietta belonging to a man residing in a nearby town in the province of Pescara was stolen from the parking lot of the Megalò shopping center in Chieti while the owner was out shopping. A report was filed shortly after at the local police station by the carabinieri, but almost a week after the unpleasant incident, there is still no trace of the vehicle, a black Alfa with the license plate FD732DJ.

According to the owner, the theft occurred between 3 pm and 4 pm on Sunday, October 13th. Inside the car, there was also a Samsung Galaxy cell phone, whose last location was inside the parking lot just before 4 pm, along with the registration papers and other items of little value. According to the officers who responded immediately after, two other cars went missing from the Megalò parking lot that afternoon. „The shopping center – as commented by the Alfa owner – is becoming a too frequent destination for these car thieves. Urgent countermeasures are needed by the Municipality of Chieti, property owners, and law enforcement.“

Further supporting this initial hypothesis, looking back in time, some car thefts were recorded between October and November of last year at Megalò. During Sunday shopping, a Fiat 500X belonging to a customer from Lanciano was stolen from the parking lot in the early afternoon, and later in the evening, a Fiat Panda Cross was also taken.

The recurrence of car thefts at the Megalò shopping center raises concerns among both shoppers and authorities. It highlights the need for increased security measures to protect visitors‘ vehicles and prevent such incidents from occurring in the future. The community and law enforcement must work together to address this issue and ensure the safety of individuals frequenting the shopping center.

In conclusion, the recent car thefts at the Megalò shopping center serve as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and security measures in public spaces. It is essential for both authorities and property owners to take proactive steps to prevent such crimes and ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
