According to Hema Maity, the general manager of the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), „Besides promoting books of all genres, the aim is to focus on providing students with educational books and stationery. A lot of school children will be participating in the fair, and we have planned painting competitions and other such activities keeping in mind our target audience.“
Meanwhile, the manager of ITPO, Sanjay Vashishtha, stated, „Books are the real ambassadors of Indian heritage. So we decided to keep the theme of this annual event as the global influence of Indian books. With the emergence of India as a global superpower, the impact of books cannot be neglected.“
Visitors will get the chance to indulge in books, interact with famous authors, and witness book launches. This year’s fair will also place a special emphasis on books about yoga and the Bhagavad Gita to highlight these aspects of Indian literature as significant elements of Indian culture. Notably, people across the world read these books globally, and there’s a rise in the interest for such books. There has been an increasing trend in the sale of Indian books across the world, particularly in Latin America. As such, the upcoming fair looks to capitalize on this growing trend.
The upcoming event will take place at the Bharat Mandapam, Hall 12 & 12A, at the Pragati Maidan. The Delhi Book Fair and Stationery Fair will run from 10 am to 6 pm, from August 7 to 11. The entry for the event will be free of charge, and visitors can enter through Gate 10.
