The implementation of exams in several schools that previously used paper-based tests has now transitioned to Computer-Based Tests (CBT) thanks to Pijar from PT Telkom.
Many schools in Indonesia faced challenges when transitioning to a Computer-Based Test (CBT) system, but these challenges have been resolved by Pijar Sekolah from PT Telkom. One school that has successfully utilized this system is SMAN 40 Jakarta. The administration of exams that were previously paper-based has now shifted to CBT thanks to Pijar.
Titin Novianti, the Principal of SMAN 40 Jakarta, stated that their school has not only eliminated the dependency on paper but has also automated the assessment process, allowing for quick access to exam results.
„Since using Pijar Sekolah, our students can take exams digitally, and the results can be monitored in real-time by teachers and parents,“ she said on Wednesday (23/10). Yura, one of the students, confirmed this by saying, „I feel more prepared for exams. Exams are easier because of Pijar Sekolah. Moreover, the results can be seen immediately after the exam is completed.“
Pijar Sekolah’s CBT feature as a virtual exam application allows students to take exams digitally. This feature includes Remote Block technology, which acts as an ‚anti-cheating‘ protector to minimize the potential for cheating during exams.
„Pijar Sekolah offers an end-to-end solution to help teachers and students with their daily teaching and learning activities using technology. For the learning process, we provide Learning Content as an alternative and engaging learning method compared to conventional learning methods,“ said Djufri Adrian, Tribe Leader Education Digital Business and Technology at Telkom, in Bandung.
He further explained that for school exams, they also offer a CBT feature that schools can utilize for more effective and efficient exams. Djufri continued by mentioning that there are many other features available in Pijar Sekolah.
Pijar Sekolah provides personalized Learning Content tailored to each student’s learning pace and style. The goal of this feature is to improve the quality of education in Indonesia and encourage every student to excel. Through this feature, students can learn more effectively and efficiently, while teachers can focus on providing guidance through interactive content uploaded directly through Pijar Sekolah.
Overall, Pijar Sekolah has integrated over 8,000 schools in Indonesia, with 40,000 teachers and more than eight hundred students registered to use Pijar. This demonstrates Telkom’s commitment to providing robust infrastructure and prioritizing information security. Pijar Sekolah has proven that digitalization in the education sector is not just about technology but also about creating an effective, efficient, and sustainable learning ecosystem.
Previously, challenges with CBT included digital literacy, security aspects, and the validity of computer-based exams. The implementation of CBT was vulnerable to various security issues such as question leaks, data manipulation, or even cyber-attacks that could disrupt the exam system.
If the security system is not well-designed, the exam platform could become a target for individuals looking to cheat or compromise the integrity of the exam. One of the main risks is question leaks, which can occur if exam questions are stored without protection or if there are vulnerabilities in the system that allow illegal access.
