The Selangor Police Community Ride 2023 kicked off with a convoy of 60 senior officers and members of the Selangor Police Contingent. The Deputy Chief of Police Selangor, Deputy Commissioner Datuk Sasikala Devi Subramaniam, flagged off the high-powered motorcycle convoy at the Senior Officers‘ Mess at the Selangor Contingent Headquarters in Shah Alam at around 10:30 am.
Leading the convoy was the Selangor Chief of Police, Commissioner Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, accompanied by the Chief of the Selangor Criminal Investigation Department, Senior Assistant Commissioner Datuk Baharudin Mat Taib, and other district police chiefs from Selangor, including the Assistant Commissioner of Police of Petaling Jaya, Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid, along with other officers and members of the state contingent.
The participants of the convoy will travel a distance of 72 kilometers through rural villages and countryside roads before reaching the final destination of the program at the Sepang District Police Headquarters later in the afternoon.
Hussein Omar Khan stated that the leisurely motorcycle convoy aimed to strengthen the bond between the police force and the community, in line with the theme „Police and Community, Inseparable.“ He emphasized the importance of a smooth and safe journey, with 14 traffic officers assisting in ensuring a hassle-free trip for all participants.
To start off the convoy, the police will join a community outreach program at the Indian Muslim Mosque on Tengku Kelana Street in Klang. There, donations will be presented to 10 underprivileged individuals before congregational Zohor prayers.
The convoy will then continue its journey to the Sepang District Police Headquarters, taking the old road through Telok Panglima Garang and Sungai Manggis, with an estimated arrival time of around 2:45 pm.
The Selangor Police Community Ride serves as a platform for the police to engage with the community, promote goodwill, and foster stronger relationships. It is a demonstration of the police force’s commitment to serving and protecting the people, while also showcasing a more human side to law enforcement. The event not only highlights the importance of community engagement but also emphasizes the unity and cooperation between the police and the public in ensuring the safety and well-being of society.
