UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Open Learning Centre (SEAMOLEC) have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the Main Meeting Room of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. This collaboration aims to enhance the quality of distance education and create more effective learning experiences.
SEAMOLEC, which operates under the umbrella of the education ministers‘ organization based in Thailand, is an institution that focuses on distance education. Dr. Wahyudi, the Director of SEAMOLEC, stated, „The signing of this MoU is a strategic step. SEAMOLEC is committed to helping create a learning environment that is enjoyable, fun, and meaningful, especially considering that students today belong to the Alpha generation.“
Din Wahid, M.A., Ph.D., the Vice Rector for Cooperation at UIN Jakarta, emphasized the importance of SEAMOLEC’s support in realizing the campus’s planned programs. Meanwhile, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., the Rector of UIN Jakarta, added, „This is a crucial step in initiating the internationalization programs we have planned. SEAMOLEC will be a partner that strengthens and synergizes with us.“
During the event, Siti Nurul Azkiyah, M.Sc., Ph.D., the Dean of the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training (FITK), revealed some key programs that will be the focus of the collaboration, including online training for students, online training for teachers to facilitate technology use, and expanding access to learning for students in various madrasahs in different regions.
„Although FITK initiated the program, it is open to all faculties at UIN Jakarta,“ Azkiyah added.
Following the signing, both institutions exchanged plaques as a symbol of their commitment to cooperation. With this partnership in place, it is hoped that the quality of distance education in Indonesia, particularly within the UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta community, will significantly improve.
