South Australia introduces $30,000 Social Impact Grants for projects promoting community wellbeing

South Australian organizations dedicated to strengthening community ties and enhancing wellbeing now have the opportunity to apply for funding through the State Government’s latest Social Impact Grants. The grants, offering up to $30,000 in financial aid, are designed to support the infrastructure and programs that nurture inclusive and resilient communities.

The 2024-25 Social Impact Grants, now open for applications, offer two levels of funding. The first tier provides up to $10,000 for resources and equipment aimed at boosting community participation, volunteering, and digital inclusion. The second, more substantial tier provides up to $30,000 for projects such as minor infrastructure upgrades for better physical access, programs addressing specific community needs, and initiatives that enhance social gathering places or focus on mentoring and skill-sharing.

This initiative is particularly focused on assisting groups and organizations that engage with individuals and communities facing socio-economic challenges and various vulnerabilities. The grants aim to empower community-led efforts that contribute to stronger, more connected social environments.

Applications will remain open until 12 September 2024, allowing ample time for community groups to refine their proposals and seek assistance if necessary.

The Social Impact Grants have previously enabled organizations such as Technology for Ageing and Disability SA (TADSA) to make a significant impact on their communities. Tracey Watters, General Manager of TADSA, shared her appreciation for the program, speaking about its role in funding the development of customized assistive technology solutions. “These vital resources enable us to provide customized assistive technology solutions that truly transform the lives of people living with disabilities across South Australia,” Watters said. Their efforts have facilitated greater independence and quality of life for many, enhancing inclusion within the community.

Nat Cook, Minister for Human Services, said “The Social Impact Grants support grassroots efforts in communities right across South Australia to drive real change in their local areas with projects which help to build stronger, more connected communities.”

This funding round not only represents an opportunity for community groups to elevate their impact on local communities but also to innovate in ways that are sustainable and forward-thinking. The grant is anticipated to catalyze numerous projects that will collectively foster a more inclusive and supportive society in South Australia.

An online seminar for potential applicants is scheduled for 15 August at 11 am. Participants will gain insights into the application process and discuss their project ideas. Those interested in joining this session are encouraged to register via email at [email protected], using the subject line “2024-25 Social Impact One Round Information Session.”

For more detailed information on the grant program and the application guidelines, interested parties can visit the Department of Human Services website at dhs.sa.gov.au/how-we-help/grants.

In conclusion, the Social Impact Grants offered by the South Australian State Government present a valuable opportunity for organizations to make a positive impact on their communities. By providing financial support for projects that promote community wellbeing and inclusivity, these grants play a crucial role in fostering stronger, more connected societies. With the application deadline approaching, eligible groups are encouraged to seize this opportunity to bring their innovative ideas to life and contribute to building a more supportive and inclusive South Australia.
