The fifth High School All-American Game hosted by Major League Baseball showcased the top prep talent of the class of 2025 at Petco Park in San Diego. The game, won by the National team with a score of 4-1, featured standout performances and moments that highlighted the skills and potential of these young athletes. Many of the players who shined in this game are expected to be top picks in the upcoming MLB Draft, continuing the tradition of this event as a preview of future baseball stars.
One standout player from the game was Gavin Fien, a third baseman from Great Oak HS in California. Fien earned the MLB Develops MVP Award for his performance, which included two hits and two RBIs for the National team. Known for his impressive exit velocities, Fien has been a standout player all summer, earning a spot on Team USA and helping the 18U team win gold in the World Cup qualifier in Panama.
Another standout player was Miguel Sime Jr., a right-handed pitcher from Poly Prep in New York. Sime, an LSU recruit, showcased his premium velocity by hitting 98 mph in the game. With a history of reaching 100 mph, Sime’s ability to throw strikes and mix in a solid slider impressed scouts and fans alike.
Kayson Cunningham, an infielder from Lady Bird Johnson HS in Texas, continued his hot streak from the summer by picking up a pair of hits and showcasing his speed with three stolen bases. The Texas recruit had a strong showing in Panama with Team USA and carried that momentum into the All-American Game.
Mason Pike, a two-way player from Puyallup HS in Washington, stood out for his consistent hard contact at the plate and his impressive pitching performance in the final inning of the game. The Oregon State recruit struck out two batters with a fastball reaching 93-94 mph, earning him recognition as a top talent in both aspects of the game.
Eli Willits, an infielder from Fort Cobb-Broxton HS in Oklahoma, displayed his speed and base-running skills by walking to lead off the game, stealing second and third, and scoring the first run of the game for the American team. The son of former MLB player Reggie Willits, Eli showed his potential as a dynamic leadoff hitter.
Sean Gamble, an outfielder from IMG Academy in Florida, made a highlight-reel catch in right-center field, showcasing his range and defensive skills. The Iowa native, a Vanderbilt recruit, impressed with his athleticism and defensive prowess, making a strong case for his ability to play center field at the next level.
Luke Billings, an outfielder from Prosper HS in Texas, demonstrated his versatility by covering a lot of ground in left field and making a running catch to end a two-run inning for the National team. The Texas A&M recruit’s athleticism and arm strength make him a valuable asset in the outfield, with scouts noting his potential as a catcher as well.
The game also featured impressive defensive plays from catchers Trent Grendlinger from Huntington Beach HS in California and Quinn Schambow from Libertyville HS in Illinois. Grendlinger showcased his strong arm by throwing out a runner attempting to steal third base, while Schambow caught a runner off guard with a back-pick at first base. Both catchers displayed their defensive skills and arm strength, adding to the excitement of the game.
