The Findlay International Study Fair 2024 attracted hundreds of students eager to explore opportunities for further education overseas. The event, which took place yesterday, saw around 600 students pre-register to attend and engage with representatives from universities and colleges from Australia, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, the United Kingdom (UK), and the United States (US).
One notable attendee at the fair was Yang Teramat Mulia Pengiran Muda ‘Abdul Muntaqim ibni Duli Yang Teramat Mulia Paduka Seri Pengiran Muda Mahkota Pengiran Muda Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah. The presence of such a prominent figure highlights the importance of international education opportunities for students in Brunei.
During the event, parents and students had the opportunity to speak with government officials about scholarships and accreditation of university programs. Representatives from organizations such as the British Council, StudyUK, Austrade’s StudyAustralia, EducationUSA, and the Brunei-US Association were on hand to provide valuable information about education and living in their respective countries.
Visitors to the fair also had the chance to speak with Baiduri Bank representatives about education loans and student accounts. Additionally, representatives from the Centre for British Teachers (CfBT) were available to discuss English language proficiency tests, an essential aspect of studying abroad.
One of the highlights of the fair was the Morrisby Career Profiling psychometric assessment offered by Findlay. This assessment looks at a person’s aptitudes, interests, and personality to suggest suitable career options, helping students make informed decisions about their future.
Sunita Martin, Managing Director of Findlay, expressed the vision behind the fair, stating, “Our vision from the very beginning was to be a one-stop experience where students can obtain information in a responsible, transparent way to help them make the best choices for them.” The fair aimed to provide students and parents with accessible and reliable information to support them in making informed decisions about their education.
High Commissioner of Canada to Brunei Darussalam, Ambra Dickie, highlighted Canada’s appeal as a study destination, emphasizing the country’s top universities, diversity, and affordability. She expressed hope to see more Bruneian students choosing Canada for their higher education.
Similarly, British High Commission in Brunei Darussalam Political Officer, Morgan Kimber, emphasized the UK’s reputation as a premier destination for studies in various fields. He highlighted the cultural experiences and educational opportunities available in the UK, encouraging Bruneian students to consider the UK for their academic pursuits.
