Study finds a surge in online teaching content creators in Tier-2 cities of India

The education sector in India is undergoing a significant transformation with the rapid digitization of learning platforms. Online education has seen a substantial expansion, particularly in tier-2 cities, making quality education more accessible to people at the grassroots level. A recent study by Classplus, a startup specializing in educational technology, sheds light on this growing trend.

According to the study, there has been a surge in the number of educational content creators emerging from tier-2 cities such as Jaipur, Indore, Lucknow, Nagpur, and Patna. Approximately 78% of Classplus‘ content creators are based in these cities, playing a crucial role in positively impacting the lives of students from even more remote areas, including tier-3 and tier-4 towns and villages. This shift is providing students with limited options for quality education due to high costs, a viable alternative through online education.

Mukul Rustagi, Co-founder and CEO of Classplus, emphasized the importance of adapting to the digital age, especially as most entrance exams are now conducted online. He highlighted the need for teachers to embrace technology to meet the evolving needs of students. Classplus has developed a multi-faceted assessment platform that supports a wide variety of questions and formats, catering to the current educational landscape.

The study also revealed a staggering statistic – in 2023 alone, students attempted to solve more than 400 crore questions on apps created by Classplus content creators. This massive engagement underscores the growing reliance on digital platforms for exam preparation and education in general. Currently, these content creators are reaching over five crore students across more than 3,000 cities in India, showcasing the widespread impact of the growing digital ecosystem in education.

Furthermore, the digital revolution in education is not only enhancing access to quality education but also bridging the gap between students in urban and rural areas. Teachers from tier-2 cities are leveraging technology to bring quality education to the doorsteps of students who would otherwise have limited opportunities. This shift is democratizing education and empowering students from all backgrounds to access high-quality learning resources.

In conclusion, the digitization of education in India, particularly in tier-2 cities, is revolutionizing the way students learn and access educational content. The emergence of content creators from these cities is reshaping the educational landscape, making quality education more inclusive and accessible. With technology at the forefront, online education is paving the way for a brighter future for students across the country.
