The Journal of e-Learning and Knowledge Society has announced the call for papers for its new special issue dedicated to the theme „Teacher Education on the move.“ This special issue aims to build upon the discussions and insights shared during the international conference organized by the European Association for Teacher Education (ATEE) in August 2023 in Budapest. Researchers and educators from across Europe were invited to rethink teacher education in light of the complex transformations taking place in public and higher education and society as a whole.
The special issue, curated by Erika Kopp from Eötvös Loránd University in Hungary and Giuseppina Rita Jose Mangione from INDIRE, will welcome submissions on the following research areas:
1. Moving in and out of the teacher profession: Research that reflects on the pathways and access to the teaching profession, as well as the elements that shape the different stages of a teacher’s career.
2. Moving back and forth between local needs and global trends: Research that analyzes the concept of teaching quality within different international contexts and explores the tensions between local needs and global trends, offering insights into professional development as a catalyst for educational system change.
3. Moving into new modes of educating: Research that explores alternative approaches to teaching, focusing on interactive and constructive learning methods involving students, parents, and the wider community.
4. Moving invading into other disciplines and allowing others to do the reverse: Research that examines how technology and digital developments are transforming the teaching profession.
5. Moving towards interprofessional development and learning: Research that emphasizes interprofessional development and collaborative learning as drivers for continuous improvement.
6. Moving into teaching: Research that delves into mentoring as a training strategy among teachers to support innovation processes in schools and school networks.
The call invites submissions of scientific contributions – both theoretical and empirical – that align with the „Moving to“ themes outlined above. The deadline for submissions is November 20th.
For more information, interested individuals can visit the official call for papers, guidelines for authors, and additional details on the Journal of e-Learning and Knowledge Society website.
In conclusion, this special issue presents an exciting opportunity for researchers and educators to contribute to the ongoing dialogue on teacher education and professional development in a rapidly changing educational landscape. By exploring innovative approaches and collaborative practices, the special issue aims to advance the field of teacher education and support the continuous improvement of educational systems.
