A new fast-casual chain specializing in healthy Mediterranean food is set to make its debut in Frisco. Hummus Republic, a California-based chain known for its bowls, pita sandwiches, and hummus, will be opening its doors at 3311 Preston Rd. #7 in The Centre at Preston Ridge. Franchise owner Sunny Kabaria has announced that the restaurant is expected to open by the end of August.
Founded by entrepreneur Nir Giat in California in 2012, Hummus Republic has quickly gained popularity and began franchising in 2015. With 11 locations in California and another 16 spread across states like Arizona, Colorado, Florida, and Georgia, the chain has been expanding rapidly. However, a previous location in Flower Mound that opened in 2023 unfortunately closed after just a few months.
The menu at Hummus Republic focuses on classic Middle Eastern dishes, offering a variety of options such as hummus, gyro meat, and falafel. Customers can choose from bowls, wraps, or pita sandwiches and customize their orders, similar to the concept of popular chain Chipotle. Starting with a base of couscous, garbanzo beans, or greens, diners can then add hummus, proteins, and other ingredients to create their perfect meal.
True to its name, Hummus Republic offers four different types of hummus, including plain, harissa, kalamata olive, and eggplant. Additionally, the restaurant features three varieties of tahini dressing: regular, red pepper, and garlic jalapeno for those who enjoy a spicy kick. Protein options range from chicken shawarma and beef and lamb gyro to vegetarian choices like falafel and mushroom shawarma made with shiitake mushrooms.
For those looking for unique and flavorful dishes, Hummus Republic also offers items like a vegan falafel burger, street-style loaded sweet potato fries topped with feta, eggplant, and chickpea croutons, and dolmades (grape leaves stuffed with rice). Prices at the Frisco location range from $12 for a pita sandwich to $14 for a bowl, making it an affordable and healthy dining option for residents in the area.
The Frisco location of Hummus Republic is owned by Sunny Kabaria, a first-time franchisee whose family has experience in the hospitality industry, owning and managing motels and hotels in Texas and New Mexico. Kabaria was introduced to the concept of Hummus Republic by a friend who owns locations in New Jersey and was drawn to the idea of bringing a modern, tasty, vegetarian fast-food kitchen to the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
With its focus on fresh and flavorful Mediterranean cuisine, Hummus Republic is sure to be a welcome addition to the dining scene in Frisco. Whether you’re a fan of classic hummus and falafel or looking to try something new like a vegan falafel burger, this new fast-casual chain promises to offer a delicious and healthy dining experience for all.
