Śląski sanepid recently issued a warning about potential contamination of drinking water in certain areas of the region. In the municipality of Wilamowice in the Bielsko district, the situation is particularly serious – the water from the taps is only suitable for flushing toilets. In villages like Dankowice and several smaller hamlets, water tankers have been deployed, with support from soldiers of the Territorial Defense Forces, to provide clean water for residents.
The contamination of the water is likely a result of recent floods in the area. Local authorities have started chlorinating the water and flushing the water supply network to restore its drinkability. In places like Bystra, Meszna, and Godziszka, the tap water is not safe for consumption without prior boiling.
In Ślemień, the presence of Escherichia coli bacteria has been detected, making the water completely unfit for consumption. Meanwhile, in the Ustroń district of Poniwiec, investigations are ongoing regarding the turbidity of the water supply.
Sanepid is urging residents to regularly check for warnings on the websites of local sanitary-epidemiological stations and to follow safety recommendations regarding water consumption.
It is crucial for the community to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their health and well-being. The situation with the water supply in these areas serves as a reminder of the importance of water quality and the need for proactive measures to address any potential risks.
As the authorities work to resolve the issues with the water supply, it is essential for residents to remain vigilant and follow the guidelines provided to safeguard their health. By staying informed and cooperating with the necessary measures, the community can work together to overcome this challenge and ensure access to safe drinking water for all.
