Trinoma to host Big Bad Wolf book sale

The Big Bad Wolf book sale is back in Manila, Philippines, with a mission to reach one million new readers. The event will take place at the Trinoma Activity Center from August 7 to 15, coinciding with the celebration of „Buwan ng Wika.“ This year, the focus is on uplifting local voices and stories by showcasing a diverse range of Filipino literature from various local publishers.

Feast Books, Adarna, Tahanan Lampara, Bookmark, and independent publishers are coming together to highlight the rich and vibrant Filipino narratives. By collaborating with these local publishers, Big Bad Wolf aims to ensure that these unique stories reach a wider audience, celebrating the Filipino community’s heritage and diversity.

Jacqueline Ng, Co-founder of Big Bad Wolf Books, emphasized the importance of making reading accessible and enjoyable for everyone. She expressed the company’s commitment to promoting reading and celebrating the diverse stories that reflect the Filipino community’s unique identity. This dedication to local literature is further echoed by Carol Chuaying, Philippine Managing Partner of Big Bad Wolf Books, who highlighted the significance of providing a platform for local publishers to amplify their work.

The book sale will feature over two million books, including titles from local publishers. Visitors can expect to find a wide selection of local stories, such as the „Ma-I“ series by Anya Chelabian and Faye Villanueva, „Sa Kalye Mailap“ and „Sinta“ by Ana Digi, and „José Corazon de Jesus: Mga Piling Tula“ edited by National Artist for Literature Virgilio S. Almario. Additionally, works by acclaimed authors like Ricky Lee will also be available, offering readers a diverse range of literary experiences.

In addition to the extensive book selection, the event will feature special promotions for Metrobank credit cardholders, including a 0% three-month installment promo for single-receipt purchases over P3,000. Swedish furnishing brand IKEA will also be present at the book sale, offering visitors an exclusive treat.

Furthermore, the partnership between Big Bad Wolf and Ayala Malls continues with the support of Ayala Malls‘ „BookLat: Open. Imagine. Discover“ initiative. This initiative aims to collect 20,000 books for public school students from kindergarten to grade 3, encouraging young people to read for leisure and entertainment.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Trinoma Book Sale was attended by notable figures such as the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Philippines, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, and representatives from Metrobank, 2GO, IKEA, and Ayala Malls. The event marked the beginning of another exciting chapter in the Big Bad Wolf book sale journey, bringing together readers, publishers, and literary enthusiasts to celebrate the power of storytelling and the richness of Filipino literature.
