Robeson County, N.C. – Deputies in Robeson County recently made headlines after arresting four teens who were involved in a high-speed chase while driving a stolen car. The incident took place on Friday and lasted nearly five hours, spanning across the Rennert community.
According to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, the teens were driving a stolen Kia when they were spotted by a detective. The chase began in the area of the Great Marsh Church Road intersection and the 7000 block of Rennert Road. Eventually, the teens got stuck in a field, prompting them to abandon the car and flee on foot.
The sheriff’s office detailed that the first teen was apprehended near Jacqueline Drive, another on Nantucket Road, and the third on Great Marsh Church Road. The fourth teen was later arrested at his residence by Investigators. Deputies utilized a drone to track the teens, and residents in the area also reported sightings throughout the day.
Sheriff Burnis Wilkins expressed gratitude towards the community for their assistance in locating the teens. He commended the residents for their cooperation and support, which ultimately aided in the successful apprehension of the suspects. This incident marked the third time this group of teens had stolen a Kia in the past two days. The teens now face multiple felony charges, including fleeing and eluding arrest, reckless driving, felony conspiracy, breaking and entering, and felony larceny. They have been placed in the custody of the Cumberland Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
