A shocking incident in Westland, Michigan has left two individuals severely injured and a woman facing serious charges. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced that April Marie Graves, 43, has been charged with 13 offenses, including two counts of assault with intent to murder. The prosecutor expressed disbelief at the alleged criminal behavior exhibited by Graves behind the wheel of a motor vehicle, resulting in life-altering injuries for two Wayne County residents.
The judge set Graves‘ bond at $850,000 during her arraignment, where she dramatically fell to the floor before being escorted out of court by law enforcement. The incident occurred on a Saturday evening around 7:15 p.m. when Graves, who was reportedly intoxicated, was driving at a high speed on Wildwood St. and collided with multiple vehicles. Luke and Hailey Vinkso were unloading their car when Graves struck them.
Hailey Vinkso recounted the terrifying moment, stating, „She floored her car and rammed him and pinned him… and then she backed up, hit another car, and then came back and hit my car and crashed into him.“ The chaos continued as Graves proceeded to crash into their garage, causing extensive damage. Hailey’s mother, Tammy Osborn, rushed to help but was met with the disturbing sight of Graves laughing at her.
The Vinkso family expressed their shock at the situation, emphasizing that they had never seen Graves before and were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Despite the challenges ahead, they are trying to remain positive as Luke undergoes treatment, including the amputation of part of his leg. Hailey provided an update on Luke’s condition, mentioning that he is stable but still in the ICU receiving medical care.
