Nebíčko, a historic building in Děčín, Czech Republic, is gearing up to celebrate its 120th birthday next year in style. The building, which currently houses a restaurant, is undergoing a major renovation to bring it back to its former glory.
Igor Zdeněk, the project manager, gives us a tour of the old kitchen, which still bears the marks of the 80s with its pale blue tiles and rusty hood. However, he assures us that the space will remain the same, only with everything being brand new. From plaster to lights to doors, everything will be replaced to give Nebíčko a fresh new look.
Upstairs, employees are busy dismantling the laminate flooring in a meeting room. The demolition work is progressing swiftly, indicating that the renovation is well underway.
Zdeněk outlines the extensive work that needs to be completed within the next five months. This includes new electrical wiring, heating systems, a new boiler room, and a completely revamped kitchen. The plans have been meticulously designed by an architect, with a focus on modern and innovative design elements.
In addition to the interior renovations, the company will also need to replace parts of the roof that have been damaged by insects or wood-rotting fungi. The full extent of the damage will only be revealed once the affected areas are uncovered.
The city of Děčín plans to open a tender for the operation of Nebíčko before the renovation is completed. The vision is to turn the building into a vibrant space for hosting weddings and various events, in addition to housing a restaurant.
The cost of the interior renovation alone is estimated to exceed 15 million Czech koruna, highlighting the scale and importance of this project for the city and its historical landmark. As Nebíčko prepares to enter its next chapter, it is clear that the future looks bright for this iconic building.
